Have you tried remote photography with a professional model yet?
One way creative people have kept shooting this year is remote photoshoots: setting up a video conference with a model while using software to remotely control the shutter of her camera. I have found it is a great way to work on my shoot planning, composition, collaboration, and model direction… and give me something new to edit!
If you are curious to try remote shooting or would like to try it but do not know how it works, please join Muirina Fae and I for a workshop that will take you through all the details of a remote shoot and let you try it out!
Workshop 1 Details
The theme of this first workshop is “Window Light” scheduled for Saturday, March 27th, from 10 am - 12 pm PDT using different setups around the natural light in Muirina’s living room in Victoria, BC, Canada. There are a lot of options in the space with various furniture, backgrounds, and a sliding glass door/window available. Muirina will have a selection of wardrobe available as well. After the two-hour workshop, Muirina is available for scheduling 30-minute remote shooting blocks (you may also schedule those without the workshop).
The cost of the two-hour workshop is $30 CAD (about $24 USD) and the additional half-hour blocks are $80 CAD (about $64 USD). Muirina’s posing limits will be up to lingerie for the workshop and her standard limits (up to artistic nude) for the half-hour blocks.
Hour 1
Muirina and I will go through the technical aspects of remote shooting in detail, get you connected to her computer to control the remote shooting software, and give you plenty of time to learn the controls. We will also cover effective practices for direction, timing, and interaction during remote shoots. Each photographer will have one short shooting session with Muirina during this time.
Hour 2
Each photographer (maximum of 5) will have longer blocks of time to shoot with Muirina where you can choose her outfit, location, and camera location within the space.
All the above shots were taken in the workshop space — showing the amazing range of Muirina Fae.

Tech Details for Remote Shooting
We use TeamViewer and Canon EOS Utility to control Muirina’s Canon EOS R camera on a tripod. I have an EOS R as well for you so two people can play around with EOS Utility at once. The mirrorless EOS R is amazing for remote shoots since it allows autofocus anywhere in the frame, easily selectable remotely. We use Zoom for the workshop as well as for interaction between photographers and Muirina during the shoot.
Ahead of the shoot you would only need to do a free install of TeamViewer and Zoom, no account needed. Microphone required, video for photographers is optional. Teamviewer software supports Windows, Mac, Linux. Zoom supports almost everything including phones. Multiple monitors or devices can be useful (to view the remote shooting software full screen while still viewing Muirina).
